4 Halloween Dog Treat Recipes Your Pup Will Love

Happy October! Whether you’ll be handing out candy on the 31st or taking your little pumpkins out to trick-or-treat, Halloween is a spooky good time for young and old alike…so why shouldn’t our favorite fur babies get in on the fun?

We’ve gathered a few easy DIY treats you can whip up for your pooch in a flash. Not only do these treats taste great, but they’re also made with natural ingredients, ensuring fido won’t endure any tummy upset after indulging.

“Candy Corn” Frozen Bites

These naturally sweetened frozen bites embrace the colors of cany corn without the added sugar and synthetic coloring.

These ultra-easy treats are made by layering plain yogurt, canned pumpkin, and banana into a paw-shaped ice cube mold (though any tray you have will work), then freezing to create a frosty treat.

Apple Crunch Pupcakes

Not going to lie…the name alone had us itching to try this recipe. A pupcake sounds delicious, and nothing embodies the spirit of the fall season like the scent of baking apples.

These moist muffins were so easy to throw together using ingredients we already had on hand. Pour the batter in to a muffin tin (they would also bake up great in a mini muffin tin for smaller treats or using a doughnut pan) and bake for 50 minutes. Your entire house will smell like autumn and you pup will be drooling for a bite!

Tropical Chicken Pops

Let’s be honest—not everyone lives in a place where October means tall boots and flannel shirts. For those of you living in warmer climates, this recipe provides the perfect way for your pup to enjoy a seasonal treat while keeping cool.

Don’t get intimidated when you read through the recipe. While it is a little more labor intensive than othes we’ve shared, these pops are packed full of nutrient-rich ingredients, including an ingenious popsicle stick made from a bully stick.

This frozen treat is best enjoyed outdoors…but it will reward your dog with hours of chewing and licking satisfaction.

Pumpkin Spice Dog Treats

If you have lots of dogs or are looking for a recipe that will keep you in treats for months, this is the recipe for you. This make a HUGE batch of cookies that can be frozen and thawed out as needed.

The treats can be cut into any shape you prefer (we love the bone shape studded with high-fiber pumpkin seeds!) and are packed full of nutrient-dense ingredients like eggs, pumpkin puree, and sweet potato. Your pup will love the delicious flavor, and you’ll love knowing these treats are as good for your fur baby as they are tasty.

Lastly, can we talk about the level of adorableness in this photo from recipe creator, Vintage Kitty? Her pup, Pixel, is too cute to handle!

As is the case with making Halloween goodies for our little humans, the word “treat” does not have to be synonymous with “unhealthy”. It is possible to create special treats for those we love that taste great and are full of nutritious ingredients.

We hope this fall season is full of healthful deliciousness…for you and your pets.
